I love to see woodpeckers and we have Gila Woodpeckers here year round.
In fact I enjoy that they love to nest just across the street from us in our neighbor's Saguaro cactus.
The birds loudly announce themselves when arriving at the feeder area so you know when they are around. I love to see the brilliant red cap on the male.

We provide oranges and suet for the Gila's but they also enjoy the hummingbird and oriole feeders. This one you see is perched on one of the hummer feeders.
When we first arrived here, I wondered why the Oriole feeder seemed to be emptied daily but I didn't see many orioles in our yard. I soon found the culprit was the Gila. They are a little heavy for the sugar water feeders and what they don't drink, dribbles out on the ground.
